My soundcard is now working fine. As far as I can tell there are no
problems with it. The driver module you need to use is called
'trident.o'
I just modprobe-d it in and everything worked right off. No problems at
all there.

Actually, no my XF86Config file had none of the extra options set in
yours, and it was working pretty well. No clue on that one. I did set
the
SWCursor option, as I had occasinal mouse shifting to deal with, but
it's
hard to tell if that actually fixed it, since the problem was so
intermittent to start with.

As far as the modem goes, I can't get it to work. Ther's a webpage on
linux drivers for pctel modems at:

http://www.medres.ch/~jstifter/linux/pctel.html

I did all the stuff to get it installed. I actually had to recomple my
kernel, but anyway, it doesn't seem to be working. I thought about
trying
some of the older drivers, but they only work under the 2.2.x kernels,
and
I didn't feel like setting that up.

Anyway, hope this helps with your sound card.
