Dell Inspiron 8100

Some of the original material is no longer relevent for Red Hat 8.0, so it has been removed.

With respect to your site at http://www.ironorchid.com/jjinux/inspiron_laptop/
and request for more info:

1. Dell will supply the machine with a Xircom modem/ethernet instead of onboard
devices.. RH7.1 at least was able to recognise the Xircom with no further
problem. 

2. Before use, RH8.0 requires ln -s /dev/cdrom /dev/dvd for DVD specific
access.

3. Kernel 2.4.18 includes drivers for fan control/ temperature control.  Don't
know how to use them yet.
